Boer Goats

Originating in South Africa, the Boer is said to be the best tasting meat goat breed, and is often called the Angus of the goat world.  It is double-muscled, which is why it is so wonderful for meat production.  Boer goat's horns do not grow straight up like dairy goats, instead, they curl down and back next to the head and neck.
The traditional Boer goat has a reddish-brown head, with a white body.  Some Boers, however, are called paints, meaning that they have color markings on their body, where they would normally be white.  Boer goats can have black markings, and may also be solid brown or black.
Goat meat, chevon has 40% less saturated fat than skinless chicken, and the same amount of protein as beef when cooked the same way.  60% of the world's population eats goat meat, making it the world's most widely eaten meat.
